My wife Wendy and I moved into Walnut Grove in 2007 after living in another part of the city for over 17 years, just after we became empty nesters. We chose Walnut Grove because of its unique architectural design, streetscape, and the sense of community it offers as is evident in the formal association deed we signed. Garth

 

Reflections Two

Rob has a keen interest in the city’s real estate market and over the years he’d been drawn to Walnut Grove as a place to retire. He liked the collective appearance of the homes, the footpaths, and the quiet ambiance of the neighbourhood. I struggled a bit with the exterior ‘sameness’ of the architectural design, but what I loved, was the interior layout of the homes, the smaller lot sizes, and the proximity of this area to almost everything. Though the decision to downsize our home was not an easy one, once here, we haven’t looked back. Kathy

The many pluses of living here include friendly and interesting people, good and kind neighbours, and it is a great location close to the K&P trail, stores, and shops. In 15 minutes you can be anywhere in Kingston. Stephen R.

 

In Walnut Grove all paths lead to the Community Center 

You own your property while sharing common elements like the community center and a green area with walkways.

This is a mature development - construction started around 2003, with the last home being completed approximately ten years later. Each property owner has an ownership share in the Community Centre and the connecting green areas and pathways. Owners pay an annual fee (2024-$630) for the maintenance of the common elements including walkways. 

The Community Center is the hub for social activity. The facility is shared ownership by all members of the community, and annual dues pay for the maintenance and upkeep. Walnut Grove was designed to accent the spacious surroundings and constancy of architectural design. Homes have similar exterior appearances, and owners agree to maintain their homes following the rules and regulations of the community.
